Born in 1969, Madeleine studied Fine Art and Illustration at Camberwell College of Art, London, and has achieved great success in both fields. Her ink and watercolour illustrations and paintings are well known and have been published, exhibited and collected around the world. She works from her studio in London and has become one of Britain’s best loved artists.
Madeleine’s paintings are both evocative figurative works and enigmatic abstract pieces. Her illustrations are informed by a strong draughtsmanship. She has written and illustrated children’s books and her pocket sized celebration of 50 British birds Birdsong (Pavillion Books) quickly became a bestseller. Clients include the National Trust and Highgrove Enterprises.
In 2020 Madeleine’s illustration of a nightingale with rainbow wings was adopted by the NHS and became a national symbol celebrating the dedicated work of the nurses. Finding more time to paint now, her latest oils are available through the gallery.
