CRISTINA RODRIGUEZ

Biography     Work

~ I have been painting professionally since 1986. My source of inspiration has always been the poetry of our daily life in this world ~

Cristina was born in Colombia in 1964. She studied Fine Arts at the University of Los Andes, Bogotá (1983-1987) and completed a two-year master´s degree at the Slade of Fine Arts, London (1989-1991) with the aid of a British Council Scholarship and a Government of Colombia Scholarship. She has lived and painted in Bogotá, Lima, London, Harare, New York, Paris, Geneva, São João do Estoril and Estoril. Pico Island has been her home since 2018.

Her first solo exhibition in 1987 was an homage to Pictures at an Exhibition by Modest Mussorgsky. Numerous inspiring solo exhibitions have since followed, including La Fête sous La Pyramide, Carousel du Louvre, Paris (1998) and Promenades Enchantèes à Genève, Cité du Temps, Geneva (2016).

~ Quarante Mille Ans d´Art Modern by Jacques Maudit is the book which has been constantly by my side and has inspired me to strive for the sophisticated simplicity already found by my fellow artists thousands of years ago ~

Cristina has created more than 700 paintings. Nearly all of them are in private and public collections across the world.
