david downton

David embarked upon a career as an illustrator soon after leaving college and only began to make fashion drawings when in 1996 he was commissioned to cover the Haute Couture shows in Paris. The invitation changed the course of his career and he has since become one of the most highly regarded fashion illustrators working in the world today. His work has graced the pages of The Times, Vogue and Harpers Bazaar and he has been commissioned by Chanel and Burberry.

Alongside his work as a fashion illustrator, Downton has been making portrait paintings of some of the world's most beautiful women. Carmen, Dita Von Teese, Erin O'Connor, Stella Tennant and Linda Evangelista have all sat for him. This work has led to him being dubbed, 'the world's slowest paparazzo'.
